Kabul – Saturday, August 2, 2025: A major energy agreement was signed today in Kabul between the Azizi Group and the Ministry of Energy and Water under the Taliban administration. The project aims to generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity across Afghanistan.

Mirwais Azizi, Chairman of Azizi Group, stated during the signing ceremony that the project’s primary goal is to reduce unemployment and boost the country’s economic growth.

Valued at $10 billion, the project is expected to be completed by 2032. Electricity will be generated from various sources including coal, water, and wind, with 700 megawatts specifically planned to come from wind energy.

The initiative will be implemented in several provinces, including Balkh, Herat, and Baghlan. A separate 1,000-megawatt power generation network will also be established in the border town of Hairatan.

Azizi further stated that the project will create employment opportunities for approximately 150,000 people, both directly and indirectly. He also announced plans to establish a vocational training center for Afghan citizens, with the goal of staffing 98% of the project’s workforce from within the country.
